Suitable from 6+ months with BLW, perfect for fussy eaters and a family favourite
Who doesn’t love a good Mac and Cheese? This Hidden Veg Macaroni Cheese has been developed with my fussy toddler in mind by slipping in some grated carrot - and he didn’t bat an eyelid!
Although this recipe is suitable from 6+ months it's best to wait until after their first tastes, which should be singular vegetables and fruits.

Serves a family of 4
Babies First Macaroni Cheese
Ingredients
30g unsalted butter
350ml whole milk
40g grated cheddar cheese
2 tbsp plain flour
1 large carrot
120g macaroni pasta
Method
Parboil the pasta for around 5 minutes then drain
In a saucepan add the butter and melt on a medium heat
Once melted add the flour and mix well until it forms a paste like texture
Add a small amount of milk at a time stirring continuously with a wooden or silicone spoon until it becomes a smooth roux
Add the cheese and continue to mix well until it has all melted
Meanwhile, peel and grate the carrot
Add the macaroni, cheese sauce and carrot to a large bowl and mix well until all the pasta and cheese is coated in the sauce
Spoon the mixture into an oven safe dish and bake in the oven for 25 minutes at 200c
It will be piping hot so leave to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving and check the temperature first
