Valentines Pink Pasta

Writer's picture: Bethany HolbornBethany Holborn

Suitable from 6+ months with BLW (baby led weaning) and perfect for the whole family

This is such a fun recipe to make with the kids, I just love how the natural colour of the beetroot stains the pasta a beautiful vibrant pink colour. There are so many health benefits to beetroots, they are packed with vitamins A, B, C and E, iron and magnesium which are also super rich in fibre.

I used pre-cooked beetroot in this recipe which I picked up from the shop, but you can buy raw beetroot and cook it yourself at home as well.

I used full fat cream cheese for this recipe but you can substitute this for a dairy free version if you have any allergies, or are vegan.

It's a perfect fresh healthy meal for all ages, from just 6+ months old and is great for BLW (baby led weaning).

You can use any pasta for this Valentines Pink Pasta, but I think spaghetti is such a fun food for kids, especially in this pink sauce! Spaghetti is also a great food for babies who are weaning and is a great opportunity for them to touch and feel new things with their hands, just as Eloise has done here!

Serves 4

Valentines Pink Pasta

Ingredients

180g dried pasta

120g cream cheese

2 cooked beetroots roughly chopped

1 garlic clove

1/4 lemon juice

Method

Blend together the beetroot, cream cheese, garlic and lemon juice to create a vibrant pink pasta sauce

Meanwhile boil the spaghetti (I always add a little oil to stop it sticking together!), and drain once cooked

Pour in the pasta sauce and mix it well with a fork

Serve immediately
